That's actually his avatar.  The forums are messed up, and if you try directly linking to the avatar, it messes up the size and made it huge. You have to upload it directly.

It's probably the fact that the picture you are linking to has been shrunk on the page you see it. So, linking to it shows the original, bigger picture.

They are also white, which is impossible to read.

I just changed the size and color in my signature.

Too bad they don't have those options in the sig, you have to get the color code yourself.
